初探靈性教育理念融入天主教高等教育課程與教學的價值

A Preliminary Exploration on the Value of Integrating Spiritual Education Ideals into the Curricula and Instruction of Catholic Higher Education

摘要


天主教學校在華(台)已有將近一百年之發展經驗,一般社會大眾常以「教會學校」視之,並時常將校園裡神父、修女所代表的形象、與其對校園裡師生的「靈性」助益,以及教會學校應有之教育理念與管理實務,皆納入學校辦學「應有」的考量因素,此諸多因素之相關思維與實務運作皆值得天主教學校教育人員研究探討。本文著自民於「靈性議題」在兼顧身、心、靈全人發展的教育理念中,如何落實於天主教高等教育之課程與教學?箇中探討學校的領導者、教師的行政規劃、課程與教學中需有之靈性意識,以幫助學生追求個人的「靈性發展」;進而探討教會學校培育個人的「靈性發展」與「靈性信仰」之分際、以及二者如何對學生學習與發展帶來相輔相成之助益;並以文藻外語大學規劃的「全人發展」課程為例,探討其如何融入靈性之教育理念,以提供類似課程與教學可參考之原則及建議。

Catholic schools have been evolving for almost a century in the Republic of China (Taiwan). The general public usually views the schools as "church schools", and take for granted the following factors of schooling in these schools: image represented by priests and nuns on campuses, the spiritual benefits that the priests and nuns bring to the teachers and students, and the educational ideals and managerial practices that are typical of church schools. The concepts and practices related to these factors are worth research and exploration by educators in the Catholic schools. The first focus of this research is how to implement "spiritual issues" in the curricula and instruction in Catholic schools as an integral part of the educational ideal of developing the whole person physically, psychologically as well as spiritually. The school leaders' and teachers' awareness needed to help students pursue "spiritual development" is discussed. Furthermore, the distinction between "spiritual development" and "spiritual faith" in church schools and the benefits of these two interacting factors to students' learning and development are investigated. This research also offers principles and suggestions usable for the process to integrate ideals of spiritual education into curriculum and instruction.
