Since its publication in 1992, Charles Taylor's article "The Politic of Recognition" has both been a source of inspirations and contentions in theorizing multiculturalism. This article utilizes Taylor's relatively recent work, the "Bouchard-Taylor Report," originally commissioned by the Quebec Government under the Consultation Committee on Accommodation Practices Related to Cultural Differences in 2008, to provide a new interpretation to "The Politics of Recognition." The author argues that both in "The Politics of Recognition" and the "Bouchard-Taylor Report", we can detect a common theme of Hegelian multiculturalism. On this view, the justifications of what makes a right or rights are distinctly different from liberal-contractual-multiculturalism both in theory and in practice.
