Thermal fatigue cracking of asphalt pavements is one of the distress phenomena in colder climates. It occurs due to repetitive application of thermal stress generated due to temperature variations. This paper attempts to develop a phenomenological thermal fatigue model which can be used for pavement design purpose. The reliability of a pavement section from thermal fatigue considerations has been estimated by performing simulation study. The proposed approach is illustrated through a numerical example.
