摘要
通識教育是全人教育，目的在擴大生命的價值和影響力，達到自我實現的境界。博雅的全人教育在追求真善美，教導人如何成己成仁，進而仁民愛物，確保人類福祉。而禪宗的智慧叫人直指人心，明心見性，悟道證命。禪宗這種樸素簡單、安心立命的人文精神，對當今物慾不斷高脹的文明，不啻為一劑清涼良方。本文為筆者「詩歌與文化」通識課程之一單元，通識教育著重深入淺出，但絕非不專業或非學術。中國的詩歌是藝術的、審美的，孕涵著生命的智慧，藉由詩禪合一的詩歌文化闡釋，增進學習者對禪宗教義及審美能力的提昇，達成人文素養教育之目的。「禪與詩」的操作理路，首先簡介禪詩本質體性；其次簡介佛教禪宗基本思想及其禪風特色。禪與詩之詩歌文化闡釋可由禪家以詩明禪來參禪悟道與詩人以禪入詩來提昇詩的哲理思辨，兩條脈絡並進而交互影響。詩禪合一是禪家與詩家兩者相得益彰，成就不離文字的禪思與博大精深的詩情。

General education is a kind of holistic process that aims to expand the value and influence of human life to achieve personal self-fulfillment. The holistic education of poetry inspires people to pursue truth, goodness and beauty as well as to instruct people to fulfill themselves and others in order to ensure the welfare of all, while the wisdom of Zen Buddhism points to human hearts for spiritual insightfulness and enlightenment. The simplicity and peacefulness in the humanistic spirit of Zen can serve as a antidote to the rising material desires in modern civilization.This paper is a unit of Poetry and Culture, a general education course offered by the author. General education emphasizes a simplified expression of in-depth knowledge, but is by no means unprofessional and nonacademic. Chinese poetry is artistic, aesthetic and filled with wisdom of life. This general education course intends to use cultural interpretations of Zen and poetry to help the learners improve their understanding of Zen Buddhism and aesthetic ability and thus accomplish the goal of humanistic education.The lecture on Zen and Poetry begins with a brief introduction to the nature of Zen poetry and proceeds with an introduction to the basics and characteristics of this school of Buddhism. The cultural interpretations of Zen and poetry can be understood interactively on two tracks: poetry read as an expression of Zen by philosophers and Zen integrated into poetry by poets to elevate the sense of philosophy. The integration of Zen and poetry, which benefits both philosophers and poets, achieve a kind of written Zen philosophy with profound poetic significance.
