論馬克佛森自由民主政治理論的形成與內涵

摘要

馬克佛森對於自由民主的批判，是將其政治理論鑲嵌於比較的及歷史的架構下來進行，同時將過去、現在與未來勾串在同一個理念與政治經濟背景的互動辯證中來鋪陳其改革訴求，這樣的作法涉及馬克佛森於方法論上的獨特風格。本文選取馬克佛森若干實質論述，將方法論相關的部分整理分析，觀察馬克佛森如何將歷史意義、政治理論與邏輯問題納入其批判與建構之同一過程。此一以「歷史」為脈絡之政治理論方法論，仍可為今日政治理論者參考與反省。

C. B. Macpherson's criticism of the liberal-democratic theory is embedded in his comparative and historical way of argumentation, which connects pastand present to the possible desirable future with the dialectical interaction between ethical ideas and political economy. Such way of doing history reflects the unique characteristic of Macpherson's methodological style. This paper selects some substantial discussion of his theory, but focuses on the relevant methodological significance. The paper tries to show up how Macpherson takes history, theory and logic reconsiderations into the same process of theory criticism and theory building. Macpherson's ＂historical' restructure of political theory may be valuable and still critical to contemporary theorists.
