The current farmers' association in Taiwan is self-government bodies of farmers. The farmers' association is aimed to serve the farmers. However, the functions for farmers' association had been significantly distorted because it played a political role too much. For instance, farmers' association was involved in political campaigns. In their own cadres and staff elections, various political forces, violence and bribery are involved in the election process for the farmers' association. Therefore, farmers' associations have become a political springboard or a fight place. However, farmers' right is only as election slogans. The paper attempts to investigate how does the political role of the farmers' association form, the political role change, and if any path to follow for such a change.
