太極拳與健康促進

Tai-Chi Chuan and Health Promotion

摘要


運動對於健康促進和疾病預防是很重要,但哪種運動適合老年人尚無定論。太極拳被認爲是老年人很優良的運動,主要原因是太極拳是一種身心結合、中等程度的有氧運動且接受度高。雖然太極拳最初是一項武術,但其對於健康促進和疾病預防的效益可能更高。實證研究結果包括:改善平衡、預防跌倒、減輕焦慮及憂鬱情緒、是疼痛症候群的替代或補充療法、改善退化性關節炎的生活品質、改善心肺功能、降低血壓、改善微細循環、增加高密度膽固醇、降低低密度膽固醇、降低骨密度流失及預防骨質疏鬆症、加強免疫能力、預防老化、改善孱弱症候群、改善健康相關的生活品質、維持認知及預防癡呆、改善睡眠品質及改善糖尿病狀況。太極拳也是復健的附加療法,特別是對有冠狀動脈手術、充血性心臟衰竭、急性心肌梗塞、腦血管疾病、哮喘和癌症的人士的輔助。結論,太極拳是高接受及低花費,也是社區很好的的支援網路。

Exercise is important for heath promotion and disease prevention, but ”what type of exercise is suitable for the elderly” is still inconclusive. Tai-Chi is thought as the excellent for the elderly. The main reason is that Tai-Chi is a mind-body exercise, a moderate aerobic exercise, and a sport with high acceptance. Although Tai-Chi is initially a martial art, its benefit from heath promotion and disease prevention might be better. The evidence-based findings include the improvement of balance and prevention of fall, the alleviation of anxiety and of depression mood, an alternate or complementary therapy for pain syndromes, improvement of life quality of osteoarthritis, improvement of lung and cardiovascular functions and reducing blood pressure, improvement of microcirculation, increasing high density lipoprotein cholesterol and lowering low density lipoprotein cholesterol, decreasing the loss of bone marrow density and preventing osteoporosis, strengthening immunity and preventing ageing, improving health-related quality of life, improving the frailty syndrome, maintaining the cognition and preventing dementia, improving the quality of sleep, improving diabetes status. Tai-Chi is also an adjunctive method for rehabilitation, especially for those who had coronary artery bypass surgery, congestive heart failure, acute myocardial infarction, cerebral vascular disease, asthma, and cancer. In conclusion, Tai-Chi is a mind-body exercise with high acceptance, less expenditure, and naturally forming a social supporting network in the community.
