Current land appraisal operations in Taiwan strongly depend on he individual experience of land appraisers. The appraisal results appear to be doubtful to the public. The low efficiency and lack of standard occurred by manual operations also affect the fairness and justice of the results. Therefore, how to operate land appraisal in a fair and objective way is a topic to the governmental, academic and private sectorsAs a part of the implementation of the Land Basic Database of National Geographic Information System, Ministry of Interior has developed a pilot system to demarcate land value sections and Kaohsiung was selected as the pilot city. The system adopts GIS technology to create the functions of section demarcation and value calculation. This implementation has improved the efficiency of land appraisal processes and is a reference to the local governments which seek to implement GIS.
