大學護理系學生實習壓力與睡眠品質之相關研究

The Relationship between Practicum-Related Stress and Sleep Quality in Nursing Students

背景 護生面對臨床實習必然會感受到壓力,這種壓力是否會影響睡眠品質,是值得深入探討的問題。 目的 旨在探討護生實習壓力與睡眠品質的現況及其相關性。 方法 以中部某科技大學日間部四技護理系三年級臨床實習學生為研究對象,共183位。研究問卷包含:護生基本資料、護生實習壓力量表及睡眠品質量表,以SPSS for Windows 12.0版進行資料處理與分析。 結果 顯示:⑴實習壓力方面:整體壓力平均發生率為1.74,偏向中等程度,最低為12分,最高為86分,顯示護生對實習壓力感受的個別差異甚大;⑵睡眠品質方面:平均每天睡眠時數為5.31小時(SD=1.65),PSQI得分平均為8.16±2.84,睡眠品質不佳者占80.9%;及⑶實習壓力與睡眠品質方面:實習壓力與睡眠品質有顯著相關,實習壓力越大其睡眠品質越差。 結論/實務應用 有助於臨床實習指導老師及校方盡早了解護生面對實習壓力的反應,及其對睡眠品質的影響,期望喚起學校關注實習期間護生的壓力調適與輔導,讓有睡眠問題的學生獲得合適的諮詢管道與因應。

Background: Clinical practicum is a stressful experience for nursing students. Thus, examining and understanding the impact of practicum-related stress on sleep quality in clinical practicum participants is an issue that deserves careful consideration and investigation. Purpose: This study investigated the relationship between practicum-related stress and sleep quality in nursing students. Methods: Researchers recruited a total of 183 junior nursing students currently taking a clinical practicum course as study participants. Data were collected using two questionnaires, namely the Perceived Stress Scale for Nursing Students in Clinical Practice and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Data were analyzed using SPSS for Windows 12.0 software. Results: Study results showed average practicum-related stress frequency among participants to be 1.74. Perceived stress varied greatly among individuals (ranging from 12 to 86 on the Perceived Stress Scale for Nursing Students in Clinical Practice). Participants slept an average 5.31 hours per day. The average participant PSQI score was 8.16±2.84. A large majority (80.9%) of participants reported poor sleep quality. Researchers found clinical-practicum-related stress significantly correlated with sleep quality and higher practicum-related stress associated with poorer sleep quality. Conclusions/Implications for practice: Study findings may help nursing educators understand practicum-related stress and the impact of such on sleep among nursing students currently taking their clinical practicum. Nursing faculty and schools should pay special attention to practicum-related stress experienced by nursing students and its impact on their sleep quality. Nursing faculty should pay greater attention to the success with which their nursing students adapt to practicum-related stress and provide appropriate guidance and assistance. School administrators should provide appropriate counseling services, as necessary, to students with sleeping problems.
