村上春樹「図書館奇譚」から『ふしぎな図書館』への改稿―一人称の共感からの離脱―

筆者は村上春樹の初期創作が特に物語の越境・展開性と主人公「僕」／「ぼく」という問題を通じて深く関わっているように思う。そこで本稿では、「図書館奇譚」（1983）から『ふしぎな図書館』（2005）へと変化した際、主人公（一人称の「僕」から「ぼく」への）変化過程から孕んだ領域性と異界性、あるいはそれを超えた物語の新たな可能性に特に注目しつつ考えていきたい。本論においては、「図書館奇譚」と『ふしぎな図書館』の改稿のポイントを次の三点、＜メタファーとしての「図書館」＞、＜「僕」／「ぼく」の迷路脱出劇＞、＜「老人」「羊男」と「美少女」の感情表出＞の異同を改めて確認し、二つのテクストの間に見られる変容を明らかにしていく。この二つのテクストを取り上げるのは、その変容を通して後に村上春樹という作家の試み、つまり「新たな物語」を書くという行為の実態の一端を明らかにできると考えるからである。本稿の結論としては、「僕」の一人称の語りが生み出す、不安、恐怖および茫然によって結ばれた共感（読者に対する共感の要請）は代わりに、「老人」「羊男」「美少女」の言動を通した「ぼく」の他者の発見（作品と我々読者の直接の関係が開かれる）へと引き継がれることである。
