Water scavenger beetles of Kinmen County, Taiwan (Coleoptera: Hydrophilidae)

摘要

Kinmen County of Taiwan is composed of a group of small islands situated close to the coast of China. In the past, the research on aquatic insects in this area was very limited, and its fauna of the water scavenger beetles (Coleoptera: Hydrophilidae) is very poorly known. Our recent survey of the Hydrophilidae of the two largest islands, Kinmen and Lieyu, resulted in the discovery of 14 species on Kinmen Island and eight species on Lieyu. In total, 15 species of the Hydrophilidae representing four subfamilies are known to occur in the Kinmen County, of which 11 determined and one undetermined species (Allocotocerus sp.) are newly recorded here. Moreover, Hydrobiomorpha cf. spinicollis (Eschscholtz, 1822), and Laccobius roseiceps Régimbart, 1903 represent new records for Taiwan. Fourteen species recorded from the Kinmen County are aquatic or semiaquatic, and one inhabits rotten fruit. Two out of the 14 determined species have not been recorded from Taiwan Island and its off-shore islands. All 14 species have been recorded in China, but five are not yet inventoried in the Fujian fauna.

金門縣是台灣最靠近中國的縣市，所轄的金門島與烈嶼為最大的兩個島，島上有眾多天然與人工挖掘或改造的水塘與濕地，水生昆蟲相豐富。先前的研究已記錄7科37種水棲甲蟲，包含牙蟲科9種，但牙蟲科的鑑定絕大多數為無名的形態種。本研究於2020年7月至金門島與烈嶼以燈誘、果誘、水網採集牙蟲，共得4亞科15種成蟲，其中在金門島有14種，烈嶼8種。本文中11種與隆牙蟲屬（Allocotocerus sp.）待鑑定1種為金門新紀錄種，其中尖凹基牙蟲（Hydrobiomorpha cf. spinicollis（Eschscholtz, 1822））和玫瑰長節牙蟲（Laccobius roseiceps Régimbart, 1903）為台灣新紀錄種。已定名的14種皆為中國紀錄種，但有5種尚未記錄於鄰近的中國福建省。
