Nowadays, we implement various interventions, such as condom use, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), post-exposure prophylaxis, and an undetectable viral load equals to untransmittable to prevent human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection during sexual intercourse. Furthermore, PrEP is a preventive tool that various countries implement to prevent HIV infection. Our study aimed to describe and analyze the changes in sex satisfaction between HIV infections and their serodiscordant couples before and after PrEP intervention. Of the 70 participants we analyzed, the frequency of condom use of the experimental group was significantly lower than that of the control group despite fixed or non-fixed partners. Meanwhile, the sex satisfactions were not influenced despite PrEP use. However, the sex and relationship satisfaction showed no significant change between pre- and post-tests in both experimental and control groups. Conclusion: PrEP might not influence sex and relationship satisfaction, but it might lower the frequency of condom use. Therefore, we suggest that when medical faculties provide PrEP counseling and prescribe PrEP, other sexually transmitted disease prevention strategies should be well-informed.
