淺論華納兄弟Looney Tunes、Merrie Melodies卡通系列中的種族形象，1930－1969

從1930－1969年的Looney Tunes和Merrie Melodies卡通系列中，我們彷彿可以看到當時美國社會的縮影，其間所出現的各種種族形象，是我們藉以認知當時美國種族刻板形象的一個參考。在這兩個卡通系列中，可以感受到潛藏著的種族隔離氛圍，只有白人呈現出「美國公民」的形象，其他無論黑人、印地安人或是華人，好像都生存在非現實或隔離的空間，掩蓋了美國社會實際上是由多民族所組成的事實。一個很大的問題其實在於他種族形象的刻板化，只有白人擁有最多的面貌（不同長相、身份），也因此只有白人最為正常自然。形象的刻板化，去掉了每一個種族內部可能的差異，也去除了該種族同時作為一個正常人（社會中的人）的聯想。另一方面，歷史的發展，似乎也直接在卡通之中反映了出來。在1930－1969年的卡通之間，我們似乎隱隱可見第二次世界大戰、冷戰以及1960年代民權運動所帶來的影響。
