Due to the heavy rainfall of the Typhoon Morakot, resulted in the sediment movement disaster in the upstream area and flood inundation in the downstream area. According to the Water Resources Agency statistics data there were 84 and 7 emergency repair respected to river levee system and local drainage system. After the disaster using field survey to investigate some counties and collected 43 field data in the center and south Taiwan. Apply the Japan empirical formula to regress the levee breach and river width characteristics and obtained the Taiwan' empirical formula. The results show that Taiwan' levee breach length is large than Japan's levee breach length.
