衰老的青春-朱天文〈世紀末的華麗〉中的觀念轉變與衝突

摘要


作家朱天文的《世紀末的華麗》與白先勇的《臺北人》都是以臺北人為描述對象的小說,二人筆下的「臺北人」各有所耽溺,朱天文所書寫的臺北人是身處八○年代末、九○年代初,走出竹籬笆後的所謂外省二代、三代的人們,面對政治時空的轉換,立場被邊緣化的結果,有其不可解的焦慮。其中〈世紀末的華麗〉是朱天文一篇公認極具重要性的作品,筆者捧讀再三,總有不同風景印象,故事中關涉的問題涵蓋了消費、階級、身體與性別議題,而視角也可以看到至少三種族群-外省的、女性的、越性別的書寫。令筆者感興趣的是如朱天文這樣的作家,應該相當熟悉西方文學理論,她究竟在〈世紀末的華麗〉中組合了什麼樣的認知意識?她究竟探索或譴責了什麼樣的「世紀末」現象?在朱天文的創作路程上,〈世紀末的華麗〉又標示著什麼樣的重要性呢?緣此,筆者擬提出幾點閱讀觀察,在省籍的、性別的、跨性別的三個不同立場間檢視朱天文所欲呈顯的所謂「世紀末」的觀念轉變與衝突。

That the author is interested in writers such as Chu, should be quite familiar with Western literary theory, whether in her ”End of the Century's Gorgeous” What in the combination of cognitive awareness? She really explore or condemn the kind of ”late” phenomenon? In Chu's creative journey, and ”End of the Century's Gorgeous” but what marked the importance of it? Edge of this, I intend to read to make a few observations, Provincial background, gender, across-gender between the three different positions to view and Chu is seeking was significant so-called ”End of the century's gorgeous” the concept of change and conflict.
