In this paper, the meaning of defilement in Sarvāsti-vāda School is explored. In Sajyuktāgama, it is called defilement. In Abhidhamma books, in most cases, it is called anusaya. There are several different types of anusaya, including 6-anusaya, 7-anusaya, 10-anusaya, 12-anusaya and 98-anusaya. In 98-anusaya, the practice techniques are included in the definition of 98-anusaya. The two included techniques are ”cut off in the path of seeing” and ”cut off in the path of cultivation”. The path of seeing has two approaches: believing action and reasoning action. The path of cultivation is based on the 5 power and 4 stations of mindfulness with 5 aggregates as the target.
