At the end of the 19th century, the Japanese Steamship Company began expanding routes to China. In order to attract tourists, the company produced a "route information" page or brochure style route guide that was distributed to tourists. Therefore, this paper takes route guides for Shanghai, Tianjin, and Qingdao as the foundation to analyze the data of this important means of transportation in Chinese and Japanese cultural interaction.
