論〈蕭蕭〉的創作背景與女學主題

Creative Background and Women Education in "Xiao Xiao"

摘要

沈從文的〈蕭蕭〉小說創作，藉著童養媳蕭蕭的遭遇，體現他對人性的關懷。又藉著女學生的形象，映射女性的覺醒。本文透過女學運動與女性覺醒的歷史觀察，結合沈從文早期的城鄉經歷、作品的相關文本、〈蕭蕭〉一文的各種版本，相互參照，得知：沈從文透過蕭蕭表現鄉下人的純樸善良，又透過鄉民揶揄女學生檢視女學教育的缺失。女學生雖然代表城市文明的覺醒力量，但離真正理性啟蒙尚有一段距離。〈蕭蕭〉文本中的女學生形象，真實地反應了近代女學運動與女性覺醒的歷史事實。

Shen Cong-wen's short story ”Xiao Xiao” showed his compassion for humanity through the adopted young daughter-in-law Xiao Xiao and reflected women's awakening through the female students' image. Combining the history of women education movement and the women's awakening with his early experiences in urban and rural areas, his work-related texts, and various versions of ”Xiao Xiao,” Shen expressed the simplicity and goodness of villagers and examined the shortcomings of women education in that society via villagers' satirical words. Although the image of female students represents the awakening symbol of urban civilization, there is still a distance away from the rational enlightenment. The image of female students in the story ”Xiao Xiao” realistically reflects the historical fact of modern female education movement and women awakening.
