This study uses the common bile duct ejection fraction (CBDEF) and hepatic duct reflux index (RI) as the indicators for observation and comparison. Based on the principle of Chinese medicine compound prescriptions, we have selected the four most common clinically used acupuncture points (acupoints) in the treatment of hepatobiliary disease-Yang Ling Quan, Dan Shu, Gan Shu, and Zu San Li-for this experiment. By measuring the CBDEF and RI, we found that stimulation of acupoints have two types of physiological effects on the hepatobiliary tract: excitement and inhibition. The excitatory effect refers to promoting contraction of the gallbladder and common bile duct, which facilitates bile discharge; the inhibitory effect refers to promoting of the relaxation of the hepatic bile duct and smooth muscle of the gallbladder, which relieves pain.
