Unicompartment knee arthroplasty (UKA) was introduced, along with total knee arthroplasty, as an option for managing gonarthrosis in 1972. Because the amelioration of implant design and surgical technique, UKA had not been justified as a temporizing procedure, it is a definitive procedure for isolated gonarthrosis! In our hospital, 30 cases performed UKA due to osteoarthritis, osteonecrosis or traumatic isolated unicompartment arthritis since Feb, 2004. After 2 years followed up, we discussed the results and surgical indication via literature review that found the good prognosis need detail pre-op evaluation and well-trained surgical techniques.
