林玉山之藝術及其對當前水墨創作之啟示

The Art of Yu-Shan Lin and its Implications for the Production of Ink Painting Nowadays

摘要


林玉山是台灣水墨畫壇中居崇高地位者之一,其成功不僅在其藝術創作,由此守護且創造台灣文化;同時也培育了許多藝術家與藝術教師,其對台灣水墨教育頗具影響力,故吾人實有必要探討林玉山之藝術與藝術觀點。基於前述之理解,本文擬探討:(一)林玉山水墨創作脈絡與其觀點;(二)林玉山水墨之特質;以及(三)林玉山水墨對當前水墨創作之啟示。本研究之方法包括理論分析與FTC藝術批評模式,後者涉及形式(Form)、主題(Theme)(含內容)與脈絡(Context)三個面向。本文發現台灣當前水墨創作正面臨從傳統到當代藝術派典之遷移、轉變與創新之議題,林玉山之藝術觀念與實務,頗具有啟發性與價值性,這些啟示包括藝術主體性、水墨創造性與水墨創作實務導向研究等之發展。

As one of the prestigious ink painters in Taiwan, Yu-Shan Lin is successful not only in his achievement in art production hence preserving and creating Taiwanese culture, but also in cultivating many artists and art teachers. He is influential on ink-painting education in Taiwan. Therefore, it is necessary to inquire into Lin's art and art conception. Based on the above-mentioned understanding, this article attempts to investigate: (a) the context of Yu-Shan Lin's ink-painting production and conception; (b) the features of Lin's ink painting; (c) the implications of Lin's ink painting for the production of ink painting nowadays. The methods adopted include theoretical analysis and FTC model of art criticism that involves form, theme, and context. This article finds that the production of ink painting in Taiwan nowadays is facing the issue of shift, transition, and innovation from tradition to contemporary art paradigm. Lin's conception and practice of art should be heuristic and valuable. The implications include the development of art subjectivity, creativity in ink painting, and practice-led research in ink painting.
