摘要

在西方的宗教學研究當中，因為嘗試以心理學的方法，去探索宗教的世界，而產生宗教心理學這門學科。宗教心理學家探討的內容，是一般人對於宗教所成興趣之議題的一些看法，諸如宗教義理、組織、儀式、規範、願景或宗教器物等等。而他們所探索的領域，則有宗教信念與儀式的功效、宗教經驗與社會化、宗教經驗的原因與結果、宗教對於人格及行為的影響等。這些部份的研究在國內尚屬少數。
宗教是生命教育中極為重要的一環，屬於終極關懷與實踐的領域，引領吾人追尋終極的生命意義與價值。宗教不僅找回生命的本質（身、心、靈），也為了生命結束之後的去處（靈界）找到了一些解釋。宗教心理學家採取心理學的方法，直指人的宗教心理，來透視個體在宗教經驗中的靈性(spirituality)問題。所以宗教心理學不僅成為宗教與生命教育的一道橋樑，為過多哲學論述的宗教學找到一種科學的論述，也為生命教育提供另一種超越立場的看法。作者期許能就宗教心理學的意義、功能及各種相關研究來探討生命教育的實施方法。

Among the religion studies in the West, some scholars attempted to explore the world of religion by the methods of psychology, and ”psychology of religion” thus came into a discipline. The content of the religious psychology focuses on certain religious issues that interest most people, such as religious dogmas, systems, rituals, norms, visions, utensils and so on. The domain of the discipline encompasses the effects of religious beliefs and rituals, religious experiences and socialization, the reason and result of the religious experiences, the effects of religion on personalities and behaviors. The internal studies on the physiology of religion are only a few.
As a crucial element in life education, religion features in ultimate concern and practice, and it guides people to pursue the ultimate meaning and value of life. Religion not only reveals the essence of life (body, mind, and spirit) but also explains the destination of life (the spiritual world). Religious psychologists analyze people's psychology of religion by means of psychology to scrutinize how people confront with spirituality in the religious experiences. Therefore, the psychology of religion not only becomes a bridge between religion and life education-it provides a scientific discourse for the religion studies based overly on philosophy-but also contributes a detached perspective to life education. I expect to explore the implementation of life education from the meaning, functions, and some related studies of the psychology of religion.
