Purpose: This study investigated the correlation between gaming criteria and the ranking of special skills in a test of college-level female badminton players. Methods: This study used the Spearman's rank correlation coefficient and recruited eight female singles badminton players from National Taiwan Sports University. The eight participants' scores in the tests of 17 special skills and 18 physical strength measures were used to determine correlations, and the four highest- and lowest-ranking players after 28 round-robin tournaments were analyzed both in terms of their scores on both types of test. Results: 1. The results of two tests, the high service test and the five-time sideways footwork test, were significant. 2. According to the analysis of the scores of the four highest- and lowest- ranking players, in each sector the players exhibited a significant level in high service. 3. Regarding the physical strength test, the players' scores were significant for the 400 m test. 4. On the basis of the difference between the four highest-and four lowest-ranking players, both sectors exhibited significant scores for eight-point footwork. Conclusion: Evaluations of the special skills of female badminton singles players should include high service and five-time sideways footwork tests. Advanced female singles badminton players should have strong command of high service. Tests of female singles badminton players' physical strength should include a 400 m test. Advanced female singles badminton players should master eight-point footwork. The results can be used as a reference by coaches when conducting routine training and assessing training performance.
