摘要

Linux是一個免費、可自由傳佈且功能強大的作業系統，有大量的自由軟體可以使用，除了可當學校後端伺服器外，若能妥善運用，亦可作爲學生電腦的工作平台。
高雄市以獅湖國小及中山國中爲實驗學校，規劃建置「高雄市自由軟體平台教學應用實驗教室」，進行自由軟體平台在電腦教學上應用實驗。
初期電腦教室完成後，安裝以友善界面著稱的Mandrake Linux期望去除繁雜的設定，以最易令人融入的界面引導接觸Linux的X window KDE圖形界面來熟悉電腦的操作，輔以Knoppix光碟作業系統運用在不必安裝作業系統，即可作爲教學媒體的可行性與做法，並找尋在自由軟體界已開發完成的教育軟體，研究其在相關領域的教學應用。嘗試將應用程式軟體僅安裝於伺服主機上，在教學應用時，直接由學生電腦連接至伺服器執行，如此可大量節省學生電腦中應用程式軟體的新增、移除、維護及電腦病毒感染救援的人力與經費成本。
「自由軟體平台教學應用實驗教室」環境建置完成後，利用兩個以上實驗班級與至少一學期之教學應用規劃。本文即探討其實驗成效，並配合教育部後續推動計畫，期望作爲擴大規劃本市實驗學校重要參考。

Linux is a free, free-transmit and powerful operating system with a large amount of available free software. It can be used as the back end server in the schools and if properly used, it can also be regarded as the workbenches of students' computers.
Golden Lion Lake Primary School and Chong Shan Senior High School are the experimental objectives in Kaohsiung City. These two objectives are planned and established ”Kaohsiung teaching lab classrooms with the applicable free software platforms” in order to proceed free software platform application and experiments in computer education.
After initial completion stage of computer classroom, Mandrake Linux with friendly interface is installed and is expected to skip miscellaneous set-up. Linux's X window KDE figure interface with the friendliest interface leads users to be familiar with the operation of computer. Being assisted by Knoppix CD operation system, the feasibility and practical method of Linux are that it can be utilized as the teaching media even without installing operation system first.
Linux seeks for the completely developed educational software from the free soft wares and studies its teaching application in the relevant fields. Linux attempts to install the application program software only on the servo host computer. Therefore, in teaching classroom, students can diretly connect their computers to the host server and run the programs. It can greatly save the new-added, uninstallation, or maintenance of the applied software programs and manpower or expense costs for rescuing computer virus infection.
After the environmental construction of ”teaching lab classrooms with the applicable free software platforms” is completed, two or more lab classrooms and teaching application plans for at least one semester are usable. This study is expected to probe into its experimental effects, to cooperate with Ministry of Education for future actions, and if possible, to be the important consultation for expanding and planning experimental schools in this city.
