With the emphasis on the creativity, the need of creative teaching is becoming more and more important. Yet little known about the fact of elementary school teachers’ creativity, this study examined the relationship between job characteristics, workplace friendship, and Creative discretion. The subjects were teachers in elementary school in Taipei County, Taiwan. A total of 200 questionnaires were mailed out, of which 144 were completed and considered as valid. The results confirmed our hypotheses: there were positive relationships between perceived job characteristics, workplace friendship, and creative discretion of elementary school teachers. Some implications of these findings for educational organizations and scholars are discussed.
