The purpose of this study was to construct and examine the nature of relationships among serious leisure and recreation specialization. A total of 297 usable structured questionnaires were collected from the runners of 2019 Tainan Ancient Capital International Marathon. Data was analyzed by confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and structural equation modeling (SEM). The results indicate the following: serious leisure has a positive and significant effect on recreation specialization, and the results of paths analysis in the model were significant (p< .05). The study suggested that the serious leisure and recreation specialization model could be used as a reference for developing strategies of sport management and relative events in Taiwan.
