豫劇《中國公主杜蘭朵》之改編研究

Adaptation of Henan Opera The Chinese Princess Turandot

摘要


「杜蘭朵」的故事,源自於波斯童話故事集《一千零一日》。因為普契尼所譜寫的歌劇《杜蘭朵公主》而舉世聞名,而該劇也是普契尼離世前最後一部作品,寫成於一九二四年。這個講述中國故事的歌劇,過了將近七十年後,由中國的劇作家魏明倫改編成京劇版本,並且由北京京劇院赴義大利演出。一九九四年魏明倫再將之改編為川劇版本,並由四川自貢市川劇團演出。一九九八年九月,義大利歌劇《杜蘭朵》與中國川劇《中國公主杜蘭朵》在北京演出,引起廣泛的比較與討論。而台灣的「國立國光劇團豫劇隊」(現台灣豫劇團)也於西元兩千年聘請魏明倫將此劇再改編為豫劇版本,盛大演出。本文擬比較普契尼歌劇與魏明倫的豫劇《中國公主杜蘭朵》,試圖瞭解魏明倫所做的跨文化改編,因應標的文化之不同,做了相當大程度的改編。然而這樣的改編,是否能呈現原著之精神意涵?

The story of ”Turandot” was taken from the Persian fairy tale collection of stories called The Book of One Thousand One Days. Because of the adaption for opera Princess Turandot by Giacomo Puccini, the story of Turandot became well-known all over the world. After about 70 years, the Chinese playwright, Wei Ming-Lun, adapted the original opera for a ”Beijing opera” edition and furthermore this edition opera was performed in Italy by Beijing Opera Troupe.In 1994, the Chinese playwright, Wei Ming-lun readapted for a ”Sichuan Opera” edition again and this edition opera was performed by Gong Ichikawa Theater. In September 1998, the Italy opera Turandot and the Chinese Sichuan Opera the Chinese Princess Turandot were performed in Beijing and the two operas caused a great sensation and discussion. In Taiwan, Taiwan BangZi Company also invited Wei Ming-Lun to readapt for ”Henan Opera” edition in 2000 and it did a grand performance at that time.This article plans to compare the Puccini opera and Wei Ming-Lun's Henan opera the Chinese Princess Turandot and also attempts to understand the transcultural readaption which corresponds to the differences among different cultures by Wei Ming-Lun. Within such a quite great degree readaption, can Wei Ming-Lun present the spirit of the original works?
