Research and Investigation of Historic Urban Areas Under the View of Environmental Behavior Studies

摘要

The past research and investigations regarding historic urban areas were mainly focused on the maintenance of the cultural heritage of historic sites and historical buildings, the positioning angle of space history, and the descriptive research of materialistic environmental image. However, research that thought of the complicated and abstract social space distribution and behavioral relationship existing in historic urban areas was rarely presented comprehensively and completely, especially the cultural knowledge rules of environmental users and deeply included in space field, which were probed by Environment-Behavior Studies. Therefore, an Environment-Behavior Studies research study about historical space and buildings with effectiveness and reliability needs to not only investigate the materialistic environmental characteristics in the research fields but also analyze and explain the behavior and cognition of users. Moreover, the research will present the deep space syntax and cultural knowledge rules of historic space at the end. In other words, the purpose is to reflect the cultural behavioral characteristics of historic urban areas and look for a new cooperating direction with between the new and old urban life space of design in the future during the process of research and investigation.
