A Study on the State of R.O.C Cadets' Participation in Recreational Sports and the Factors of Obstacles

摘要

This research was destined to investigate the state of R.O.C. cadets' participation in recreational sports and the factors of obstacles so as to understand the real situation of their participation. The research is sampled from the official cadets, during from January 1st to April 30th in 2007, coming from R.O.C. Military Academy, R.O.C. Naval Academy, R.O.C. Air Force Academy, National Defense University, and National Defense Medical Center. Questionnaires, based on the cluster sampling, had been designed in this research and passed to 673 cadets. The data were processed through item analysis, factor analysis, descriptive statistic, independent-samples t-tests, one-way analysis, and Scheffe' Method. After the analysis and discussion, it comes to the following conclusions: 1. The percent of the cadets who join in the recreational sports is 91.8﹪. The percent of the others who don't is 8.2﹪. And the percent of those playing sports regularly is 33﹪; however, the percent of those doing it at will 58.5﹪. 2. The percent of the cadets playing sports on holidays is 24.1﹪; the percent of those doing it on non-holidays is 8.9﹪. And the percent of the cadets with both conditions is 58.7﹪. The most cadets play sports in the afternoon, and the ercent is 74.4﹪. 3. The cadets who play recreational sports for twice or three times every week are the most, and the percent is 43.8﹪. The percent of the cadets who just play sports for one or two hours every week is 58.9, which is the most. 4. The percent of the cadets who play sports with company is 68.8﹪. As for transportation, the percent of walking to play sports is 55.1﹪, the highest. 5. The percent of the cadets who play sports in person is 85.9﹪. Among these, the percent of the cadets playing sports without paying any fee is 83.6﹪. 6. The percent of the cadets playing sports without paying fee is 51﹪. The percent of the cadets playing sports mostly in school is 73.8﹪. 7. The percents of jogging (52.2﹪) and basketball (47.4﹪) are relatively the highest. 8. Among the five factors of obstacles of participation in sports, the social factor is the most.(M= 3.10) 9. As for the sample test on the factors of obstacles of cadets' participation from different military schools, ”Working factor”(F=3.91, P<.05), Circumstances factor”(F=2.19, P<.05), and ”Chance factor”(F=2.68, P<.05) make obvious difference. 10. Among the factors of obstacles of cadets' participation from various grades, only ” Social factor”(F=4.69, P<.05) makes difference.11. Different from the factors of obstacles of the participation of the cadets with leisure time to use, ”Personal factor”(F=5.38, P<.05) makes obvious difference. From the above research, we know that various military school cadets whose grade and leisure time have differences, are under much work pressure and have a military rank. Therefore, there are always some obstacles for them to participate in recreational sports apart from studies. It is suggested that the authorities concerned improve the condition and make the cadets more willing to join in recreational sports.
