從「她族」映照「中國性」:從〈紅紗籠〉到〈拉子婦〉的道德優越到自我贖罪

Otherness Reflects Chinese in "Red SaRong" and "A La-tzu Woman"

摘要


本文以曹嵐於1969年5月刊登於《蕉風》月刊登短篇小說〈紅紗籠〉,與李永平於1968年完稿於1972年發表於《文學雜誌》的〈拉子婦〉兩篇文本進行分析與討論,探討小說文本呈現的性別、族群、他者與中國性的交織議題。本文並置兩篇小說共同討論在於這兩篇小說在馬華文學的歷史發展上處於馬華文學發展的奠基期;此外,馬來西亞在1960年代的性別與族群狀況都呈現在兩篇小說當中,而兩篇小說不約而同呈現了馬華男性與非馬華女性的對比書寫,因而將兩篇文章比較並探討小說中呈現的性別、族群與中國性的意義。本文討論「族群的他者」與「性別的她者」如何在文本中結合,分析當女性角色成為族群的承載者時如何被再現為族群的她者,在此書寫過程又呈現文化優越、自我批判、自我贖罪等多重意義的中國性。從曹嵐的〈紅紗籠〉到李永平的〈拉子婦〉,看見從族群的優越感轉向自我贖罪的轉折。

In this paper, I analyze Cao Lan's "Red SaRong", which published in 1969, and Li Yongping's "A La-tzu Woman", which published in 1972. The analysis and discussion focus on the intersectionality of gender, ethnicity, otherness and Chinese issues. This article discusses the two novels and compares gender, ethnic groups and Chinese significance. I want to discuss the "ethnic otherness" and "gender otherness" in texts. In these novels, women become ethnic bearer and need saving, while the male Chinese are representation of cultural superiority. However, Li Yongping's "A La-tzu Woman" have more self-criticism and self-atonement. From the two texts, there are multiple meanings in Chinese character and non-Chinese women. From Cao Lan and Li Yung-ping's novels, the discussion find out the transition in the texts is the meaning from ethnic superiority to self-criticism and self-atonement.
