The Study of Blocking Accuracy Variation in Positions of Attacking, Pre-cues of Setting

The purpose of this study was to compare the accuracy of block for different attack positions and pre-cues of volleyball set. Twenty-eight female players in the team of Challenger B against level A University Volleyball League players were the participants in the present study. Time-screening method was applied to assess whether there the pre-cues instructional video had an effect on the participants' presage ability of defense. The pre-cues instructional video includes 48 different volleyball attacking movements. Participants had to identify different attacking positions (A quick, position 3, position 4), accordingly. As for the design of this experiment, ”the different attacking positions”, ”pre-cues of volleyball set” and ”the different time-screening of attack positions” were the independent-variables, and the accuracy of anticipation of block position was the dependent variable. One-way repeated measure ANOVA with a significance level (α=.05) was used to analyze the present study. The results of this study were as follows: 1. A significant correlation was found between the accuracy of block and different attack positions (F=4.00; p=.025). Participants performed a better level of accuracy of block with A quick than with position 3 and position 4. 2. There was significant correlation between the accuracy of block and different pre-cues of volleyball set (F=1468.94; p<.001): Participants performed a better level of accuracy of block at 33 ms after set than right at set, 33 ms before set, and 66 ms before set. In additions, right at set was better than 33 ms and 66 ms before set. 3. The pre-cues of volleyball set were observed between 33 ms before set and right at set. 4. The accuracy of block for different time-screening frames is as follows: (1) There was significant difference between A quick, position 3 and position 4 at 33 ms after set (F=23.63; p<.001). The accuracy of block for position 4 was better than position 3 at 33 ms after set; the accuracy of block for A quick was better than position 3 at 33 ms after set. (2) There was no significant difference between A quick, position 3 and position 4 right at set (F=.11; p=.893). (3) There was significant difference between A quick, position 3 and position 4 at 33 ms before set (F=8.68; p=.002). The accuracy of block for A quick was better than position 4 at 33 ms before set; And the accuracy of block for position 3 was better than position 4 at 33 ms before set. (4) There was no significant correlation between A quick, position 3 and position 4 at 66 ms before set (F=1.27; p=.291). The above findings were discussed: There was significant difference accuracy of block between different attack positions and time-screening. These results told us that we can use pre-cues to forecast and understand the importance of anticipation. Therefore, we should not only promote physical capability and skills but also anticipation ability in sport training. According the result and discussion of this study, we provide suggestion for physical training and researches after.
