Pharmocological doses of vasopressin and oxytocin were injected into anesthetized rat intravenously. One minute after the administration of either vasopressin or oxytocin (100 times of the vasopressin dosage) into the rat, the lung compliance decreased substantially (p<0.001). Results showed dose-response relationship. The respiratory resistance did not change (except high dosage of vasopressin) during the whole time course of the experiment. The possible action site of these hormones was discussed.
