Purpose: To explore the effects of core muscles training on lower body muscle strength and balance of static in middle-aged and elderly women. Methods: Twenty-three volunteers were recruited in this study (age: 62.26 ± 6.42 yrs, height: 154.22 ± 4.87 cm, mass: 56.19 ± 7.81 kg). Subjects were instructed to progressively increase the intensities in core muscle training by the body weight for 3 days per week, 90 minutes per session for eight weeks. Pre- and Post-tests were implemented before and after the intervention. The data collected includes results for lower body muscle strength test of senior fitness test and clinical test of sensory interaction on balance (CTSIB). The collected data were analyzed by paired-samples t test. Significant level was set at ? = .05. Results: Subjects had significant improvement on lower body muscle strength and balance of static after training. Conclusions: Core muscles training can improve lower body muscle strength and balance of static in middle-aged and elderly women.
