談通識教育改進計畫之執行-關於「生物與產業應用」通識教育課程

On the Execution of "The Project for the Enhancement in General Education"-The Course of 'Biology and Industrial Application'

摘要


通識教育乃在於教育人認識自己內在的狀態,了解個人的外在與人、與家庭及學校、與社會文化、或與宇宙未知世界的互動關係,在這些互動關係中留意過去歷史與未來趨勢的各個面向,藉以培養深且廣的全方位視野。國內通識教育的發展,自民國七十三年各大學全面實施通識教育課程選修制度起至今已屆滿二十年,實施以來雖有各類的課程陸續開設,但在教育的精義和課程的品質上仍有許多改進的空間;另外,在課程的實踐上也遭遇許多挑戰與困難。多年來,在國內無論是行政部門或是各級學校等相關教育單位,都積極地進行各項通識教育的整合型教學計畫及評鑑工作,用以評估各項通識教育的教學成果及教學規劃,希望可以兼顧理論與實際應用,真正落實通識教育的成效。本文主要內容在介紹大同大學「生物與產業應用」通識教育課程獲得九十三學年第一學期個別型通識教育改進計畫補助後之執行課程設計的成果、教學助教及同學的心得,希望透過本文的發表鼓勵教師及同學加入通識教育的教學及學習領域。

The essence of general education aimed to enlighten the learners about the understanding of their selves, and to assist the exploration on one's connection with the known and vast unknown. By emphasizing different dimensions on the history, the progression, and the future aspects of these connections, an all-dimensional view with extensive depth and width can be shaped. Although it had been more than 20 years since the comprehensive implementation of general education as options in most of the universities in 1986, still a lot of improvement awaited to be done today regarding the quality of lectures and the emphasizing on the essence of general education. Nevertheless, many of the difficulties and challenges are to be faced at the execution level. This is also the reason why by accessing the design and the percentage of achievement of these projects, associated administrative offices in the campus and the government have long been dedicated in improving our general education. Here we reported our achievements and the lessons that teaching assistants, and the students have learned in Tatung University during the execution of the individual general education project 'Biology and Industrial Application' supported by a grant from our government department of education. We publish this work in hope to encourage the participation of other teachers and students in general education.
