Screening of Soybean Line for Rust Tolerance at Hualien

並列摘要

Soybean rust is one of the constraints of soybean production during spring at Hualien area. For screening rust tolerant soybean lines, advanced rust tolerance trials were conducted from 1984 to 1988 at Chian, Hualien. The AVRDC lines which had been tested in intermediate or advanced rust tolerance trials plus one high yielding check, one highly tolerant check and two local checks were included in these trials. A split plot design with three replications was adopted. Plots with and without fungicied (80% Marcozeb WP) applications were used as main plots while the genotypes were subplots. The plot size was 3x6m, and the population density was equivalent to 200,000 plants/ha. Records were made on yield, 100-seed weight, and days to maturity. The level of rust tolerance and yield potential of entries were evaluated by yield and yield loss percentage. Results showed that lines, SRE-B-15A, SRE-B-15C, SRE-D-14B, had high level of yield potential and medium level of rust tolerance. SRE-C-56A line had high level of rust tolerance and medium level of yield potential. SRE-D-11A line had not only high level of rust tolerance but also high level of yield potential. This line may be suitable for planting in the spring season at Hualien area if further testing is conducted.
