The Effects of Labor-Saving Cultivation on the Yield and Quality of Rice

並列摘要

In order to evaluate the effects of labor-saving cultivation on the yield and quality of rice in I-Land area, the cultivar Taikun NO.1 was used for experiment from 1st crop 1993 to 2nd crop 1994, with direct seeding followed by ratoon, machinery transplanting followed by ratoon and machinery transplanting in both crops (CK). The results showed that the direct seeding in 1st crop produced yield (5161 and 5223Kg/ha respectively) higher than the CK (4894, 5038Kg/ha) by 5.5% and 3.7%, for 2nd crop, the machinery transplanting got higher yield (3814, 2769Kg/ha),than direct seeding-Ratoon (3483 and 2366Kg/ha respectively) and machinery transplanting-Ratoon (3228 and 2312Kg/ha respectively), those are reduced by 8.7~14.6% and 15.4~16.5, respectively than the CK in both years. On the other hand, machinery transplanting in both crop showed better milling quality, chemical properties and grain appearance than other treatments. The labor-saving caltivation method (direct seeding followed by ratoon) got higher profit (59,640~73,627 NT$/ha) than the check (machinery transplanting in both crops) (51,580~51,638 NT$/ha) by 54.9 to 42.6% in both years.
