Because of the collaboration stressed in a cheer-leading team, cheerleaders' altruism in interpersonal relations is relevant to the team's competitive performance. At the beginning of this paper, the advantages and limitations of trait theories were presented. Using these psychological theories, this paper discussed cheerleaders' personality traits, linking with their altruism in interpersonal relations. The traits relevant to cheerleaders' training, as well as to competitive performance, were also discussed.
