Experimental Analysis of Water‐Diesel Emulsified Fuels

並列摘要

Water‐diesel emulsified fuels have become good alternative to replace diesel fuels. Stabilized with the appropriate surfactant, and without significant changes in physical and chemical properties, show reduction in nitrogen oxides and soot. In order to investigate the effect of emulsified fuels with varying contents of water and diesel, stabilized with Tween60, several mixtures of water and diesel were analysed in terms of disperse phase distribution, stability, physical and chemical properties. The results allowed understanding the optimum water content with longer stability and lower differences compared to diesel fuels. Emulsions prepared with Tween60 having 15 and 20% water have 68% of disperse phase droplets with 6‐8 nm in diameter, and subsequent effects on improving fuel atomization. The 5 and 10% water emulsions have physical and chemical properties closer to diesel fuels, but shorter stability and higher water droplets.
