Theory of Machines through 20th Century

This paper is written in honor of Professor Dr. F. R. Erskine Crossley, Professor Emeritus, Architect and Founder Member of International Federation for Promotion of Theory of Mechanisms and Machines (IFToMM) and its first Vice President on his achieving 100 years of age on 21st July 2015 with glorious service to Kinematics and Kinetics Community of the world. This paper deals with two parts viz., 1. My association with him in 1960's during the formation of IFToMM and 2. Kinematics and Kinetics - the way this subject is developed in the second half of 20th century and practiced today; a subject matter very close to Professor Crossley's heart.
