In this paper an experimental study of the vibro-impact capsule system proposed by Liu et al. in [1- 3] is presented. The capsule dynamics is investigated experimentally by varying the amplitude of external excitation. The novel experimental apparatus is discussed, and experimental results are compared with numerical simulations using the proposed mathematical model which shows a good agreement. Our experimental observations reveal that large amplitude of excitation may not improve the performance of the system so that a proper selection of its control parameters should be considered for different system configurations.
