Vibration Analysis of a Novel Stator Wheel Structure for a Direct-Drive PM Generator

並列摘要

A novel lightweight wheel structure developed for rotor and stator use in very large low-speed electrical machines is presented. The wheel structure uses layered sheet-steel elements to form the spokes and rim. Friction between layers of the lightweight structure improves dynamic performance by increasing damping of the layered stack. To understand the vibration behavior of the lightweight wheel structure, a quarter-scale prototype was built and vibration testing was carried out to determine actual radial vibration responses. The measurement data was used to verify a numerical model with good results. There was good agreement between measured and predicted behaviors. Next, a full-scale stator wheel structure was similarly modeled to carry out a modal analysis of its dynamic behaviors. The predicted dynamic performance shows the wheel structure to be suitable for stator use in an 8 MW LC DD-PMSG embodiment based on the introduced lightweight, layered, sheet-steel wheel structure.
