It is attempted to remove sulfate from aqueous systems using foam separation techniques. The sulfate can be removed from aqueous solution by the addition of AI(III) and line. The resulting precipitate with formula 3CaO.AI_2O_3.3CaSO_4.3lH_2O is removed by precipitate flotation techniques with sodium IauryI sulfate as the collector. The sample solution contains 2000 ppm sulfate initially. The residue sulfate level is less than 100 ppm after 5 min flotation. Over 95% of sulfate is removed by this techniques.
