A systematic study was made of the variables involved in the seven Cu/γ-alumina catalysts with different copper loading (9.95~24.37 wt%) prepared by the newly developed electroless plating method for the dehydrogenation reaction of cyclobexanol. The results showed that the dehydrogenation activity increased with the copper loading upto about 19 wt% and then declined with further deposition. The selectivity to cyclohexanone significantly increased as the copper loading increased upto a certain value and then remained almost constant with further copper loading. According to the experimental results, catalysts prepare d by the electroless method have homogeneous dispersed active sites, which provide high activity and selectivity in the dehydroge nation of cyclohexanol.
