This paper describes the supramolecular interactions of safranine T with nucleic acids at physiological acidity. When the molar ratio of ST to nucleic acids is less than 0.17 、S T is intercalated in the double strands of nucleic acids by the ratio of each nucleotide residue of DNA to a molecule of ST. and by the ratio of two nucleotide residue of RNA to a molecule of ST. Binding constant is about 103 order. The change of free energy I enthalpy and entropy was calculated for the supramolecular interactions according to the binding constant determined.
