Studies on the Design of Microscale Chemistry Experiments: A Microscale Palm Mine

摘要


利用市售價格非常便宜的手槍型電子打火機、塑膠滴管、塑膠注射筒及透明底片空盒子等易於取得的簡易材料,設計組裝成超低價格(每套只需要新台幣十元左右)二機一體的另類化學槍-「超『ㄅㄧㄤˋ』的微型掌心雷」,它是一種免用電池的微型安全酒精槍和氫氣槍。當射擊時會有一聲超『ㄅㄧㄤˋ』的響聲並將微型掌心雷的塑膠蓋子彈出去,或在氣球中產生一明亮的火團,但套在微型掌心雷之底片空盒子上的氣球不會破掉。因此微型掌心雷之設計與操作在趣味化學實驗教學、燃燒與爆炸化學單元之介紹和演示時,相當具有趣味性與震撼力。

One new design of an interesting and shocking microscale palm mine for demonstration in interesting chemistry course is described. The new design consists of a mobile phone lighter, a plastic film box, a two-way plastic stopcock, a balloon and some small materials. The microscale palm mine includes two safe chemical guns without any battery, a microscale alcohol gun and a microscale hydrogen gun. Shooting is best accomplished by igniting the safe mobile phone lighter without any butane in this improved design. A very loud "BANG" sound can be heard and a brilliant flame confined in a balloon can be seen by shooting with the microscale palm mine. From the considerations of low-cost, safety and interest, the microscale palm mine will make models of combustion and explosion studies enjoyable for teachers, students and the public.
