A Study of Using the Web-bassed Instruction in "Acid-Base Salt Chemistry" Course for Nursing Students with Individual Learning Style

This study aims to discuss students with individual learning styles and their achievements in "Acid-Base Salt Chemistry" through web-based instruction as well as their attitudes towards learning through computer. One hundred five-year nursing college students, who are from the first grader, participated in this study and were categorized according to the Kolb's placement test. The results obtain placement test present their individual learning style. Then these groups would be placed into different "Acid-Base Salt Chemistry" curriculum with designated web-based instruction. The experiment results are summarized as follows: 1.The small group experiments results that the students under web-based instructions have better learning achievement than the students under traditional instructions. 2.Based on the analyzed data of individual learning style, accommodators are the majority(45%), and convergers are minority(14%). Only convergers got high chemistry scores than students under traditional instructions. 3.Based on the evaluation of two factors-depend variable, it presents that the score of instructions is notable difference, but individual learning styles could not cause obvious effects on instructions. 4.The questionnaire of students' satisfaction under web-based instructions results, they agreed with what they have learned from web-based instructions(average > 3.50). It is wished that a study on how to built up better learning in the field Acid-based Salt Chemistry by combining individual learning styles could provide suggestions and insights for chemistry teachers to develop in designing their curriculums.
