An Investigation into the Feasibility of Incorporating Creative Photography Pedagogy in General Education

並列摘要

In our modern society, technology is no longer science-fiction. People enjoy the products of technological advancement while on the other hand lay waste to natural environment. As technology lowers the technical threshold for creative endeavors to the point where it has become a part of everyday life, the creative spirit seem to have lost its sacredness. To evoke environmental consciousness, reflection upon technology, and creativity from younger generations, this study selected a general education course at 〞University M〞 in Changhua, Taiwan to incorporate simple composition and posing techniques for students who had not been exposed to professional photography training to be re-introduced to photography as a creative medium. It is also the objective of this study for the students to see the elective course of general education - the 〞Organic Life and Health〞 in a different light through a new form of stimuli. In preparation for this experiment, discussion was conducted with the instructor of the original course (T1) on the essence and scope of the course. The leading professor of the experiment (R1), who was also the executive researcher of this experiment, designed a lesson plan and schedule based on the scope and conducted the experiment on location after confirmation with T1. The results showed that incorporating art into the course offered advantages and possibilities for development and application.
