The relationship between safety climate and safety performance is receiving increasing attention in industries. A self-administered questionnaire survey was carried out among employees in four categories of manufacturing industries in the Central Taiwan in 2000. The number of respondents was 524. Canonical correlation analysis found that there is a significant positive correlation between safety climate and safety performance, and that there is the strongest positive correlation between managers' commitment and action and safety performance. It is concluded that managers may pursue the excellent safety performance by creating positive safety climate.
