The contents of The Analects of Confucius are mostly in the form of conversations that lack descriptions in a systematic construction. In addition to the direct statements considering the personal opinions of the speaker, ancient literature is frequently quoted to express one 's thoughts so as to extend one 's vision as well as to discover new topics . Such extension method for conversation is based on the " poetic inspiration" (詩興) : the openness of interpretation for "drawing a comparison and making association by kind". While it helps with the enlightenment of doctrine (義理) , at the same time it becomes difficult for a reader to give explanation. This paper aims to study the discourse methods applied by The Analects of Confucius as it quotes Classic of Poetry so as to clarify divergence upon interpretation from past generations, and to further explain the properness of its doctrine(義理)
