Sun Ying-Ao is an outstanding scholar amongst the Wang Yang-Ming followers in Gueijhou. When tracing his following after different masters, Sun Ying-Ao firstly learned some time from his master Syu Yue, a Wang Yang-Ming follower in Taizhou, and then followed another Wang Yang-Ming follower of Chujhong, Jiang Sing-You. At that time, Sun Ying-Ao had close contacts with several Wang Yang-Ming followers. They liked to discuss the knowledge of mind, and the principles of kindheartedness. These close followers of him included Syu Yue, Geng Ding-Siang and Luo Ru-Fang belonging to Wang Yang-Ming followers in Taijhou; Hu Jhih, Jhou Shan, Zhou De-Han and Luo Hong-Sian belonging to Wang Yang-Ming followers in Jiangyou; Wang Ji and Wang Zong-Mu belonging to Wang Yang-Ming followers in Jhejhong, Jiang Sing belonging to a Wang Yang-Ming follower of Chujhong; and Jiang Bao belonging to a Wang Yang-Ming follower in Nanjhong. All of them had frequent interactions with Sun Ying-Ao. They had activities together, such as listening to lectures, making discussion after lectures, paying visits to each other, having close talks with each other, traveling far together to enjoy the sights of mountains and rivers, enhancing the friendly sentiments of each other, writing letters and give encouragements to each other, writing prefaces and reviews for the works of their friends, recommending the works of their friends to other people, and so on. They always spread to other people the principles of man's intuitive ability to know right and wrong, the knowledge of mind and soul, the rules of benevolence, and the right ways of being teachers. They all advocated peace, took care of each other and praised each other, forming a warm picture with colorful and prosperous academic interflow.
